Breaking into house to have sex

A man and woman were arrested early Sunday morning in Gainesville after police said they attempted to break into a home they thought was empty to have sex.

People inside the home on SW 17th Place locked themselves in a bedroom and called police. When police arrived they found Luis Velez, 18, and Carise Duncan, 25, hiding on the victims' attached porch.

Police said their investigation showed Velez, who gave his name as John Thomas, and Duncan made several attempts to enter the house through a back door and back window, which had a screen removed.

Police said Velez and Duncan intended to have sex in the home, because they thought the home was empty. After she was handcuffed, Duncan fled on foot but was quickly caught, police said. She began kicking the back windows of the police car and had to have her legs restrained.

As officers were restraining her legs, Duncan kicked officer Ted Jones in the face, police said. Jones is OK. Duncan was charged with trespassing, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence. Thomas was charged with trespassing and giving false identification to a law enforcement officer. Both were booked into the Alachua County Jail with bond set at $30,000 each.
